Sahayaks seek Minister's intervention

We the Gram Rozgar Sahayaks engaged under centrally sponsored scheme MGNREGA in Rural Development Department Govt of J&K are working with honesty and dedication for the past seven years for a small amount of honorarium Rs 5625/- per month. We are unable to make our ends meet in this meager amount. We were appointed purely on  Panchayat Halqa level merit. Recently we have been transferred to inter blocks by the higher authorities. Our salary is too small to bear the transport expenses which we incur from trvaelling from one place to another. We can't afford it as we usually get our salary after four or five months. We don't get salary on monthly basis. So we appeal the Minister for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan and Secretary RDD to please enhance our salary and frame a job policy for us so that we are able to live a dignified life.

Stray dogs unleash terror

Scores of stray dogs have unleashed terror  in various habitations, including Shallgund, Kuligam and Khurhama. The problem is severe in these areas and its adjoining areas where dozens of stray dogs are present on the roads near our homes as well as Masjids. Authorities have failed to check this serious problem. Stray dogs outnumber human population in the area. The problem has assumed horrendous dimensionsas we cannot even venture out of our homes, particularly during evening and morning. Our children fear to move out even during day. Stray dogs have attacked and injured many people in our locality during the past few weeks. We appeal authorities to wake up from deep slumber and do something about these stray dogs.
