Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader arrested

Police during a raid in wee hours today arrested Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) acting district president for Kupwara Farooq Ahmad Bhat from his residence, according to TeH statement issued by its spokesman here today.

Police during a raid in wee hours today arrested Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) acting district president for Kupwara Farooq Ahmad Bhat from his residence, according to TeH statement issued by its spokesman here today.  

"Farooq Ahmad Bhat played a key and pivotal role during recent people's uprising. His all political activities were peaceful and open. During recent period police launched a hunt and raided his residence and arrested his brother and ailing father.  Police, during raids on his residential house, ransacked his properties," the spokesman said, condemning Farooq's arrest, adding the police have taken to him some unknown destination.

Meanwhile, TeH chairman Syed Ali Geelani, while strongly condemning the arrest of Farooq Ahmad, said, "Instead of facing TeH leaders politically, government and authorities use the mighty police to suppress every voice raised against the Indian forcible control, which is not only condemnable but shameful as well."

Geelani has condoled the demise of wife of senior member of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, renowned scholar, writer and a long-term associate of Radio Pakistan, Mateen Fikri Sahab. 

Praying for the departed soul, Geelani said, "It is very hard to bear the loss of the life partner in this old age, as one looses the most intimate, loving and caring companion." 

Praying for the bereaved grieved family particularly Mateen Fikri Sahab, Geelani said, "Families of the associates of Tehreek-e-Islami, indirectly feel the heat of the sufferings of their loved ones."

Geelani has also condoled the demise of Er Sheikh Nazir Ahmad of Baramula, saying that "he was highly educated, sincere and founding member of Tehreek-e Isalami." 

A delegation of TeH leaders visited of the deceased and expressed their solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for the peace to departed soul.

Meanwhile, another delegation visited Moulana Alhaj Tyeb Kamili and expressed sympathy and condolences on the death of his wife.
