In an embarrassment to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, a party lawmaker on Tuesday moved a privilege motion against its own minister Abdul Haq Khan in the Legislative Assembly for "humiliating" him" as well as "failing" to fulfill commitments made by him in the House.
Members of Treasury benches as well as opposition were stunned this evening when PDP MLA and former Minister Javaid Mustafa Mir moved a privilege motion against Abdul Haq Khan, who holds ministries of Rural Development and Law.
The PDP MLA stood up and submitted a privilege motion to the Deputy Speaker Nazir Gurezi when Grants of the Agriculture department were being discussed in the House.
In the privilege motion, Javaid Mustafa Mir has accused the Minister of "humiliating" him when he went to meet him in his office chamber to discuss the issue of his constituency. "He (Javaid) has submitted that the Minister called him to his office to discuss an issue of his constituency but humiliated him by not attending him when he went to meet him," Gurezi told Greater Kashmir.
The Deputy Speaker said the PDP MLA has also accused the Minister of not fulfilling an assurance given by him in the House. "I have directed the Secretary Legislative Assembly to examine the matter," he said.
