The Hajj aspirants of south Kashmir's Pulwama district Tuesday alleged that the administration has issued confusing rules for Hajj applications.

The Hajj aspirants of south Kashmir's Pulwama district Tuesday alleged that the administration has issued confusing rules for Hajj applications.

They said that the Hajj counter placed at Deputy Commissioner's office Pulwama has pasted a notice declaring that only those applications would be accepted which have passport of issuance date of January 1, 2017.

They said, however, while the Hajj Committee of India's guidelines for the submission of application say that the forms must have a machine readable validity Indian International Passport issued on or before January 24, 2017 and valid at least up to February 28, 2018." However, the notice pasted at Haj counter says: "Passport issuance validity on or before January 1, 2017, valid upto not less than February 28, 2018."

"The counter didn't accept my application. I traveled to Srinagar where they accepted it without any queries," Irfan Bashir, a Hajj aspirant from Tral area of Pulwama said. When contacted Executive Officer State Hajj Committee, S Qamar Sajajd said that the issuance date is 24-01-2017 as prescribed by Hajj Committee of India.

"I will check with it. And the district administration can't amend any prescribed rules of Hajj committee," Sajjad said.
