Legislators take on CM over civilian killings, brazen use of PSAs in Kashmir

Congress MLA, Usmaan Majeed, Saturday cornered the government and stated "PDP has blood of innocent people on its hands."

"In the past militants were killed, but the situation which erupted after killing of Burhan was the anger of people against you," he said while participating in the discussion.

He said "PDP was formed in 1999 and you sold Aazadi and Pakistan during elections and batted for keeping BJP at bay," he said adding that Mufti sahab was a tall leader and it was expected that people would participate in his funeral like they did after death of Sheikh sahib, but dismal attendance during his last rites should serve as an eye opener for you," he said, and added that PDP has betrayed the people of Kashmir. 

Referring to the past statements made by PDP MLA against him, without taking his name he said, I am proved to be "Ikhwani".

"Despite knowing my black and white people still elected me," he said.

MLA Langate, Er Abdul Rashid said that struggle of Kashmiri nation is not for revoking AFSPA, PSA, banning pellet guns, restoration of Autonomy "but purely a movement for right to self determination".

In his speech in LA today, he said that people of the state were "expecting a Razia Sultana in Mehbooba Mufti but Nagpur drew her other way."

"We appreciate Mehbooba for showing deep love for her late father Mufti Sahab," he said while asking the CM "what she has for parents of those 18 year old kids whom she forced to shoulder coffins of their beloved children."

Senior Congress leader and former minister, Nawang Rigzin Jora while participating in the discussion on Demands for grants of department under control of Chief Minister in the Legislative Assembly on Saturday, said that there is anger among people against Mehbooba Mufti and her government. " Recently I saw a movie Dangal, a local girl who was the heroine of the movie has done wonderful job, everybody was happy with her success and then you invited her to meet you," Jora said while sarcastically referring to the incident when the Zaira Wasim had posted public apology for meeting CM.

"But what happened to her after meeting you is an eye opener for you."Jora said the people in Kashmir were not unhappy with the actress's performance and her success. "They were angry only because she met you," Jora insisted. "This must be the biggest eye-opener for you."

"You compromised on every stand, after the death of Mufti Sahab you took three months to form the government, while during that time your party issued statement stating that Mufti sahab was made to run pillar to post and was humiliated, but after some of your some members were ready to form government which made you to succumb, while PM Modi is much clever and you were made to give up your demands," he said.

SCHOOLS TURNED INTO MILITARY ZONES: RUHULLAH

Accusing the CM, Mehbooba Mufti of turning the schools in Kashmir into military zones, the former minister and NC legislator, Aga Ruhullah said the present regime instead of demilitarization has remilitarized Kashmir.

"Educational institutions have been turned into military zones which is against the International Law," said NC legislator while speaking in the LA.

He said that areas demilitarized by the former CM, Omar Abdullah have been remilitarized by your government. "You talked about AFSPA revocation, I want to know from you what has happened to your promise of revoking AFSPA," he said adding that government has slapped controversial Public Security Act on people in Kashmir brazenly without considering their age or whether they are minor or old-aged.

IMMEDIATELY REVIEW PSA CASES: AKBAR LONE

Senior National Conference leader and MLA Sonawari Muhammad Akbar Lone here on Saturday that the government has not spared religious heads who were booked under PSA for participating in rallies.

He sought immediate review of PSA cases and directions to District SPs to stop backdoor engagement of special police officers on the recommendations of MLAs forthwith.

Lone sought the immediate intervention of the Chief Minister into the review of the detainees facing charges of involvement in militancy related incidents and street protests and immediate withdrawal of PSAs against those who are not involved in heinous crimes.
