Following heavy snowfall the approach road to Sopore by-pass bridge has developed broad cracks, generating huge concern among the locals here.

According to reports, the bypass road constructed by Beacon authorities a few years back has developed huge cracks, posing huge threat to vehicles plying on the road. "The cracks are so wide and open that these can easily consume life of any person besides can cause major accident on the road" said Ghulam Rasool of Badami Bagh Sopore.

The locals here said that the bypass road was constructed by the Beacon, however, it seems they have not carried work properly and it looks like that they have used inferior material in the construction of the road.

"Earlier, the bypass bridge which was completed in 23 years after its completion, developed some cracks and now the approach road. Authorities should take concrete measures to ascertain the quality of material used in both bypass bridge and its approach road," said Abdul Hamid of Sopore.

Meanwhile while talking to Greater Kashmir, Sub Divisional Magistrate Sopore, Abdul Hamid Bhat said that a group of local engineers visited the place and they assured that the cracks don't pose any major threat. However, we have decided to call the Beacon authorities to ascertain the actual cause of cracks and they are likely to visit the place within two days.
