Geelani urged New Delhi to "desist from their rigid and stubborn approach." He condemned the arrests of youth in Sopore. "After the two youth were slain in an encounter, police arrested Muhammad Syed Magrey, Tariq Ahmad Bhat, Muhammad Maqbool Sheikh and Amir Rather (Trach Kandi) Junaid Wani and Ishfaq Sheikh (Nat Noosa).
