Hurriyat Conference (G) senior leader and Jammu Kashmir National Front (NF) chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan has strongly condemned the arrest spree in Kashmir.
Nayeem Khan, in a statement today, also condemned the caging of resistance leaders and imposing restrictions on them "in order to prevent them from participating in the political, social and religious programmes and activities."
He said, "Jammu Kashmir has been turned into a police state where people are denied all civil, political and democratic rights. The pro-freedom leadership which represents the aspirations and sentiments of the people has either been locked in their houses or lodged in police stations and jails. Ahead of the sham elections which are conducted under the shadow of gun have no relevance. India is using tactics of oppression and suppression to crush the voice of dissent in Kashmir."
"Curbing common voices by using men in uniform unfolds the intentions of the ruling class which after consultation with New Delhi is busy implementing the Doval doctrine in letter and spirit in Kashmir. The doctrine recommends crushing pro-freedom struggle with the brute force without any space for dialogue and political engagement."
