Incarcerated chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik today termed the "exemplary" boycott of parliamentary by-election in central Kashmir on March 9, as "referendum against New Delhi's control."
"Five per cent theory of Mehbooba Mufti has today come true but with one big correction that even 5% Kashmiris are not with India," a spokesman of the JKLF, in a statement today, quoted Yasin Malik as having said while commenting on the exemplary election boycott by Kashmiris yesterday and condemning the killings by police and other forces.
"Indian rulers and armed forces cannot force Kashmiris into submission by this killing spree, maiming and other oppressive measures. From last 70 years in general and from two decades in particular, Kashmiris have witnessed Indian brutalities and oppression but have not surrendered before this tyranny," he said.
"From last seven months hundreds of our kith and kin were killed, thousands maimed and blinded but the resilience of Kashmiris has not been shaken and our resistance remains steadfast as ever. Frustrated by the exemplary boycott and peaceful protest across valley against this drama, Indian soldiers and police at the behest of so-called rulers fired upon many innocent youth at various places and killed and injured many of them. For this killing spree Mehbooba Mufti, her government and all other pro-India leaders and parties are directly involved as they are the ones who are deployed to defend Indian control and these killer forces," Malik said.
He said, "The so-called rulers have become such addicted to the blood of Kashmiris that they have lost every bit of shame and humanity. By constantly accusing those murdered by her forces, Mehbooba Mufti is defending the ridiculous behavior and callousness of armed forces towards innocent Kashmiris."
"For staging bogus drama of elections, the so-called rulers have caged thousands of young and old in Kashmir, put restrictions and blockades and even banned internet but despite all these suppressive tactics, people of Kashmir paying reverence to their martyrs and sacrifices boycotted this drama and proved that Kashmiris only want freedom from illegal control of India. During 2016 peoples' revolution, Mehbooba Mufti and her other cabinet colleagues often boasted about only 5% people being with resistance but today their shameless assertions have come true but with a big correction that even 5% Kashmiris are not with India and these puppets," Malik said.
