Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today exuded hope that the president of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is on a state visit to India, will make efforts to end the political uncertainly prevalent in the region since decades.
"Turkey being an important Islamic country and having cordial relations with both India and Pakistan will hopefully make efforts to end the political uncertainly prevalent in the region since decades," Mirwaiz, in a statement today, said.
Welcoming the statement of Erodgan that Turkey is ready to play a role to solve the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan, Mirwaiz said, "The Turkish president is well aware that how Kashmir dispute is the main source of tension between the two nations."
He said, "Being an active member of Kashmir Contact Group at OIC, Turkey which has always advocated the solution of Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir can play a vital role in the resolution of this issue to end the tension in this region."
Meanwhile, Hurriyat has expressed serious concern over the killing of a civilian Ghulam Muhammad Khan of Ilahi Bagh Buchpora in a grenade attack at Khanyar.
Mirwaiz who is also Chairman of Awami Action Committee (AAC) expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of AAC Pulwama district President and prominent resistance leader Haji Habibullah Andrabi. The deceased was a close associate of founder of the party Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Farooq Sahib (RA).
