Police have detained four youths for questioning in the mysterious death case of a girl, whose body was recovered from the power canal in Kangan area.
Police said they have detained four youth from different localities for questioning after receiving some inputs about them, and after tracing the phone call records of the deceased.
Pertinently, the locals had staged a protest on Srinagar-Sonamarg road after recovery of body of the girl who was missing since April 13.
The deceased was identified as Shazia Hamid Bhat (18) a class 11th student, of Druktung Kangan.
Her body was recovered from the canal of Ganderbal power house at Hedar Maiden Wurpash, 9 km from the deceased's house.
According to the protestors the girl had been murdered under well planned conspiracy. They we're demanding arrest and punishment to the culprits.
Confirming the detention of four youth, Muhammad Omar, DSP Kangan, told Greater Kashmir on Sunday that they were detained for questioning.
"Before receiving medical opinion and completing the investigation, it is premature to say either it is a murder, suicide or accidental case," the DSP said.
