Condemning government decision to impose ban on the Islamic TV channels, the Hurriyat Conference (G) today termed it as 'strangulation' of the freedom of expression.
"It is quite strange to ban those Islamic channels specific for Quran and other religious related programs. It is tantamount to direct interference in religious matters," the Hurriyat spokesman, in a statement today, said, terming the ban as highly deplorable.
He said, "It is step towards creation of 'Hindu Rashtra and authorities have opted to begin with their plans from Jammu & Kashmir. It is very unfortunate, that Mehbooba Mufti with her eyes shut is obeying her masters and implementing their agenda."
"It is extremely deplorable that Mehbooba Mufti though Muslim for name sake laid curbs on broadcast of these Islamic channels," he said, "These steps reflect their future course of targeting the Muslim community and Islam."
The spokesman said, "Its repercussions may perhaps be severe if the decision is not revoked by authorities."
