Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a militant of Hizb ul Mujahideen outfit in Ajar area of Bandipora district in north Kashmir.
Based on "specific information" about the movement of some militants, a joint Naka was laid by Bandipora Police, Army's 14 RR and CRPF 3rd Batallion at Gurezmod crossing under the jurisdiction of police station Bandipora, said an official.
"During naka checking, one militant of HM outfit was apprehended along with arms and ammunition," he said.
The official identified the militant as Zameer Ahmed Khatana Gujjar, son of Syed Wali Khatana Gujjar, resident of Boiynar, Bandipora.
A Chinese Pistol, magazine and eight rounds were recovered from his possession, he said.
"A case FIR No 125/2017 under section 7/25 I Arms Act has been registered against him at police station Bandipora and further investigation has been taken up," he added.
