Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G)  Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Sunday hailed Pakistan for introducing resolution on Kashmir in UN general assembly.

"Maliha Lodhi has rightly placed the issue keeping in view its historical background. We are facing extreme situation since past 71 years and it is the sincere efforts that after 39 years of strenuous efforts Pakistan succeeded to introduce resolution in UNGA. World community has turned a blind eye towards our agonies and miseries," Geelani said in a statement.

Hailing Pakistan ambassador for her stance, Geelani said, "All member countries including India are aware about the historical evidences and aspects of Kashmir issue."

"It was India that took the case to the UNO. Eighteen resolutions were passed that people of Jammu Kashmir will be given the opportunity to  exercise their right to self-determination and the United Nations Security Council stands guarantees for the right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people. However, UN miserably failed to implement its resolutions," he added .

Blaming New Delhi for its "heartless and haughty" approach, Geelani said, "Indian authorities are employing their military might to suppress our genuine aspirations."

Haling Pakistan authorities for their sincere and justified approach and steps, Geelani said "This country continues to support us despite facing multiple challenges and issues."

"It is encouraging and we feel delighted that world body has acknowledged and accepted the Pakistan sponsored resolution, saying that it will send a good message and feeling to all subjugated nations," he added.

Meanwhile, Geelani paid his tributes to militants slain in Hajin gunfight, saying that "these youths lay their lives to end the miseries of Kashmiris. They are laying heavy responsibility on our shoulders to carry their mission till its logical end."
