The State Human Rights Commission today issued orders for personal appearance of SSP Budgam before it on the next date of hearing in a case involving the killing of Tanvir Ahmad Wani, a Beerwah youth.
Chairperson SHRC, (R) Justice Bilal Nazki while hearing the case, observed, "SSP Budgam has not filed report in terms of order dated 27th Oct, 2017. The CD (case diary) in this case has also not been furnished by the SSP."
The commission directed: "The order shall be complied with by the next date of hearing. SSP Budgam shall remain present on that day."
In July Tanvir Ahmad was killed and another person namely Ibrahim Wani injured allegedly by the government forces in Beerwah area of Budgam district. Tanvir had succumbed to his injuries at Sub–district hospital at Beerwah.
Tanvir, a tailor by profession, was hit by bullet on his head while Ibrahim was hit by the bullet in the shoulder fired allegedly by the personnel of 53 Rashtriya Rifle who "mistook bursting of a juice pouch for blast and started firing in the direction of the civilians."
A rights activist filed a petition before the commission and after that police told SHRC that army had not provided them with the details of soldiers "involved in the killing of youth."
The police report states, "The correspondence has been made with the concerned army unit for providing of nominal roll of the army personnel who were deployed on the spot of the incident, but till date the concerned army authorities have not provided the same."
