A "toy bomb" triggered scare at Seer village in Tral township in Pulwama district on Thursday afternoon, police said.
Locals immediately called upon the police soon after they claimed to have found a bomb attached to a tractor trolley on main Tral-Seer road. They were seeking the services of a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).
Instead of finding an explosive device, BDS later recovered a toy, which seemed like a bomb, said station house officer Tral, Ghulam Muhammad Rather.
Locals said that heavy contingents of police, army and paramilitary forces reached the spot. "A bomb disposal squad was called in to diffuse the bomb following which a loud bang was heard," said a local.
They said traffic was also stopped for some time on the main Seer-Tral road and later resumed.
