The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League chief, Mushtaq- ul -Islam has been released from long detention.
According to a party statement, Mushtaq was released Tuesday after about eight and half months of incarceration. He is the second leader of a political party set free by the government. Earlier Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Syeda Asiya Andrabi and her close aide Fahmeeda Sofi were released on 25 December.
Mushtaq was arrested earlier this year. The statement alleged that Mushtaq was "subjected to the mental and psychological torture in various police stations and the torture centers."
He was lodged in various jails including the central jail at Srinagar and the Kotbalwal central jail at Jammu, his party statement said. His family had expressed concern over his safety and sought his release. KASHMIR WIRE
