The High Court on Wednesday directed the government to furnish details of the land leased out in favor of beneficiaries at ski resort of Gulmarg.
A division bench of Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice M K Hanjura directed chief executive officer Gulmarg Development Authority to submit a comprehensive report detailing the beneficiaries of the leased out premises, lease agreements with dates and other details.
"A comprehensive chart to the extent may be submitted before February 1, 2018", the bench said, while hearing a Public Interest Litigation seeking preservation of environs of Gulmarg.
The directions followed after the Amicus Curie informed the court that a large number of violators have carried out constructions beyond leased out premises in Gulmarg.
The chief town planner Kashmir, who was present, told the court that notices have been issued to the violators but they have approached the court for intervention. He sought appropriate orders so that they could proceed against the violators.
"Taking note of the aforesaid situation, CEO GDA is directed to submit a comprehensive report detailing the beneficiaries of leased out premises," the court said.
With regard to identification of villages which come under the jurisdiction of GDA, the court directed the government to convene the meeting for finalizing the proposal forwarded by CTP and submit the latest status report by the next date of hearing.
In October this year, the High Court had directed CTP Kashmir to prepare and submit a proposal of areas falling under Gulmarg to Tourism department for immediate action.
The Court had granted further time to the concerned authority for submitting a comprehensive map of entire resort and the villages which falls under the jurisdiction of Gulmarg local area.
