Shopian, Pulwama shut against militant, civilian killings
A complete shutdown is being observed in twin districts of Shopian and Pulwama against the last evening killings of two militants and a civilian during a gunfight in Chaigund village of Shopian.
All shops and other business establishments are closed in these areas while public transport is off the roads.
There were reports of massive protests in Shopian against the killings of two militants – Sameer Ahmad Wani of Odoo and Firdous Ahmad of Ganawpora – and the civilian Shakir Ahmad Mir of Kalampora Pulwama.
A top police official said that the civilian was killed in "cross-fire" between the militants and the government forces.
