Scores of youth belonging to Gujjar-Bakarwal community on Thursday staged a protest demonstration against J&K service selection board (SSB) alleging 'fraud' in the selection of teachers in Math and Science subjects.
The protesters alleged that the SSB had selected some candidates on the basis of "bogus" reversed category certificates for the post of teachers in Math and Science subjects.
The protesting candidate assembled at the Press Enclave here under the banner 'Jammu and Kashmir Gujjar Bakarwal Youth Conference'. They raised slogans against the SSB.
They said a list of teachers (Math and Science subjects) issued by the board showed that many candidates were selected allegedly on the basis of forged schedule tribe certificates.
"Some candidates selected on the basis of fake category certificates come from castes which do not exist in Gujjar- Bakarwal community," said Zahid Parwaz Choudhary, state president, J&K Gujjar Bakarwal Youth Conference.
"Our right has been snatched by such candidates. We want the authorities to intervene and probe into the matter," he said.
The protestors demanded that Gujjar- Bakarwal quota should be specific to the members of the community only. "Our quota should not be allowed to be utilized by the candidates of schedule tribe and other categories, which are given on the basis of their place of residence."
