Suspected Hizb militant held

An active militant of Hizbul Mujahideen group suspected to be involved in a weapons heist from a lawmaker’s home was arrested on Thursday from a village in Pulwama district, police said.

An active militant of Hizbul Mujahideen group suspected to be involved in a weapons heist from a lawmaker's home was arrested on Thursday from a village in Pulwama district, police said. 

Mohammad Rafiq Bhat, the suspected Hizb militant was arrested early in the morning from his uncle's residence in Achan village.

A police official said Bhat was being investigated for aiding SPO-turned militant Adil Bashir who looted seven rifles from the residence of PDP legislator Aijaz Ahmad Mir on September 28 in the high security area of Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar.

Muneer Khan, Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order confirmed the arrest, saying Bhat was being questioned about the weapons loot.  "He is divulging things," Khan said.
