Snow clearance process on Mughal Road reviewed

Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmed along with officials of Mechanical Engineering Department, R&B and Mughal Road Division Shopian today took a detailed stock of snow clearance work on Mughal Road Mughal road  that connects Kashmir through Shopian with Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu region, an official handout said.

The Deputy Commissioner said that men and machinery areworking on war footing, but the avalanches on most of the areas hampering thework. He urged the officials to make proper use of safety gadgets whileexecuting works to ensure complete of safety measures. He also advised peopleand tourists to visit the area after consulting the authorities to avert anykind of accident, adding it would take more time to clear snow from the road.

He said the road would be thrown open more probably in thethird week of April for transport, but subject to favorable weather conditions.The snow clearance process was started this month and almost 23 kilometers ofroad stretch has been cleared by the authorities.

Executive Engineer Roads and Buildings Shopian, Syed AbdulQayoomKirmani,  Assistant ExecutiveEngineer R&B Khursheed Ahmad, Assistant Engineer Mechanical ShopianFayaz Ahmad along with officials of roads andbuildings department, mechanical department and officials from Mughal RoadDevelopment Shopian accompanied the Deputy Commissioner.
