Thousand throng Pattan youth’s funeral at Chenbal
Amid strict restrictions imposed by the authorities, the body of Arshad Ahmad Dar, 22, was laid to rest at his native village Chenbal in Pattan on Thursday.
Thousands of people participated in the funeral. A sombermood engulfed Chenbal as the body was being carried for the burial. Women wereseen beating their chests and showering flower petals on the coffin.
A tear smoke shell had hit Dar on his head during protestsagainst the rape of a minor girl at Sumbal last week. He was critically injuredand shifted to SKIMS hospital for treatment. He succumbed to his injuries onWednesday night.
The entire area of Chenbal, Hanjiveera, Mirgund andadjoining villages observed a complete shutdown. Dar is survived by parents,two sisters and a brother.
Meanwhile, authorities on Thursday enforced restrictions invarious parts of the North Kashmir including Chenbal, Mirgund, Hanjiveera inBaramulla district and Inderkoot, Shadipora, Panzinar, Shilvat and severalother areas.
The authorities also suspended class work in variouseducational institutions.
