Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) president G H Mir today paid tributes to Mirwaiz Moulana Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone on their anniversaries.
He prayed for the heavenly abode of the leaders and alsorecalled their contribution.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Jammu and KashmirPeople's Democratic Front (PDF) president Hakeem Yaseen paid glowing tributesto Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone on their death anniversary.
"The contribution and sacrifice offered by late MirwaizFarooq for socio-political rights of Kashmiris would be remembered for times tocome," he said.
"Late Mirwaiz groomed, guided and enriched the people of thestate about their social, religious and political rights," he said.
"He was not only the religious leader of Kashmiri people butrepresented their political aspirations as well," Yaseen said.
He said, "Late Mirwaiz throughout his life vehementlyadvocated for resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishesand aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
"He played a significant role in bringing social reforms inthe society. Muslim Ummah, particularly Kashmiris, are indebted to hisremarkable contribution in imbibing moral and religious values to the society."
Paying tributes to late Gani Lone, he said, "Late Gani Lonedevoted his whole life for upholding honour and dignity of the people ofKashmiris. He wanted a peaceful resolution of Kashmir problem through atripartite dialogue process between India, Pakistan and the representatives ofJammu and Kashmir."
Yaseen has prayed for eternal peace to the souls of bothlate Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone.
