Former finance minister Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari onSunday expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of prominent socialworker and philanthropist Showkat Ahmad Jan, who passed away at his residencein Magarmal Bagh today morning.
In his condolence message, Bukhari described Jan's demise asa huge personal loss for him and his family.
"Late Jan saheb was an epitome of amity, compassion andkindness. He was a longtime friend and a mentor who always stood with me in mythick and thin. I personally knew Late Jan saheb closely. He had not onlycarved a niche in social circles but was equally known for his humility amonghis friends and associates," Bukhari in a press statement said.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, the formerfinance minister prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul and courageto his family to face this difficult time of grief and bereavement.
"It was an honor to have known such a great person who hasleft indelible marks in my life. May God grant Jannat to the departed soul andbestow courage and endurance to the bereaved family to bear this irreparableloss," Bukhari said.
He said that the void left by the demise of Jan Saheb ishard to be filled not only by his family but by his friends and acquaintancesas well.
"I extend my heartfelt condolences to the grief strickenfamily to bear this inconsolable loss," he said.
