Cyber Police Station Kashmir Zone, Srinagar today took cognizance of circulation of fake and fabricated record of proceedings purported to be of Supreme Court of India and registered an FIR.
"Cyber Police Station has received information throughreliable sources that some miscreants with criminal intention have fabricatedand circulated a document purporting it to be a record of proceedings ofHon'ble Supreme Court of India dated 09-04-2020 in the case titled foundationof Media Professionals Vs Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and ANR, inwhich it has been falsely reflected that J&K Union Territory administrationhas been ordered to take a quick review within 24 hours and restore full internetcommunication in the region. The said document is fake and forged from itsappearance and as otherwise ascertained," Cyber Police Station Srinagarsaid in a statement.
"This fraudulent and dishonest action has beenundertaken by unknown miscreants in order to mislead public in general andpublic authorities in particular. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 06/2020 underrelevant sections of law stands registered in Cyber Police Station, KashmirZone, Srinagar and investigation set into motion. General Public is advised notto circulate unauthentic, fabricated or fake information through social mediaplatforms. Any person found indulging in such activities will be dealt strictlyunder Law," it added.
