National Conference President, Farooq Abdullah and Vice President, Omar Abdullah on Monday paid tributes to senior party leaders Khawaja Abdul Gani Veeri and Bodhraj Bali on their death anniversary.
In a statement the leaderssaid Veeri was closely associated with the party founder Sheilkh MuhammadAbdullah and Farooq Abdullah. While offering tributes to him, Abdullah said:"He was a mass leader and played a pioneering role in the struggle against theunjust rulers."
Omar while paying tributesto Veeri said he worked for the upliftment of downtrodden, and other weakersections of the society. "Veeri Sahib isstill esteemed by one and all on the basis of developmental works he carriedout in entire south Kashmir."
Veeri's son and party'ssouth zone President, Bashir Ahmad Veeri also paid tributes to his father onhis 5th death anniversary.
Amongothers party leaders Sheikh Mustufa Kamal, Nasir Aslam Wani, Hasnain Masoodi,Muhammad Akbar Lone, Sakina Itoo, G A Shah, DR Shafi, Showkat Ahmad Mir, AltafAhmad Kaloo and Imran Nabi Dar also paid tributes to Veeri.
MeanwhileAbdullah and Omar also paid tribute to Bodhraj Bali on his 17th deathanniversary. In their separate messages Abdullah and Omar recalled thecontribution of Bali in strengthening the party in Jammu besides tirelesslyworking for upliftment of people.
Senior National Conferenceleaders also paid tributes to Bali and highlighted different facets of hispolitical career, saying his self-less work will continue to inspire all.Besides provincial President, Devender Singh Rana, the signatories to the jointstatement included Ajay Sadhotra, SurjeetSingh Slathia and others.
