3 dead, 4 injured in accident

At least three persons died and four were injured after a load carrier they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge at Manchatar in Kralpora area of Kupwara district on Monday afternoon, said police.

The deceased have been identified as Parvez Ahmad Khawja, 16, son of Muhammad YousufKhawja, resident of DardporaKupwara; Rayees Ahmad Sheikh, 16, son of Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Dardporakupwara, and Ishfaq Ahmad Khatana, son Of Abdul Rashid Khatana, resident of SatboyenDardporaKupwara.

   

According to reports, the load carrier was travelling from Chowkibal to Kralpora and while negotiating a curve at ManchatarKralpora, the driver of the vehicle lost control over the vehicle as a result the vehicle rolled down into a gorge resulting in the death of two persons.  Some of the critically injured persons were shifted to Srinagar hospital for treatment while the other injured are being treated in Kupwara sub district hospital.

3 BOYS DROWN IN POONCH

Three teenagers drowned while they were taking a bath in a river adjacent to a school in Poonch district on Monday, said police.

The deceased were identified as Muhammad Altaf (14) of Gagriya, Imran and MusratKhaleel, both 16, hailing from MohallaKamsar of Poonch town.

Their bodies were later recovered from the river by local rescuers and handed over to their families after completion of medical and legal formalities, said a police official. The district administration has announced Rs 18000 to each bereaved family. (SumitBhargav)
