3 ‘drug peddlers’ arrested in Kulgam

Srinagar, Oct 29 :Three alleged drug peddlers were arrested by police in Kulgam and contraband substances was recovered from their possession.

A police spokesman in a statement said acting on specific information regarding drug dealings at aDhaba at Nippora, Qazigund, a police party from police station Qazigund rushed to the spot. During during checking, officers recovered 60 kgs of Poppy Straw from the possession of Kuldeep Kumar of Kud, Ramban. He was arrested.

Besides an alleged drug peddler Aasif Amin Thoker (owner of dhaba) resident of WaghamaBijebhara after noticing Police party managed to flee from the spot and efforts are on to arrest him.

In another incident, officers at a checkpoint near flyover crossing Qaimoh intercepted a truck, PB35Q-2555, with two persons on board. They were identified as Somnath andParlad both residents of Makheriya Hoshiarpur, Punjab. On checking, officers recovered 92 Kgs of Poppy Straw filled in apple boxes from their possession. They were arrested and the vehicle also seized.
