30 detained in Shopian, Pulwama during night raids

At least 30 more persons were detained by the security forces from different villages of south Kashmir’s Pulwama and Shopian districts on Tuesday night.

A police official said that the forces raided Gudoora, Newaand Parigam villages of the Pulwama, Keegam area of Shopian and Reshipora areaof Awantipora in the night and detained more than two dozen persons.

   

As per figures received from police, 19 persons weredetained in Pulwama, 4 in Shopian and 7 in Awantipora.

An official said the arrestees were being quizzed for theiralleged role in various stone pelting incidents in various areas.

On Monday night as many as 21 persons were picked up by theforces from Murran area of Pulwama district.

The fresh arrests come just days ahead of parliamentaryelections in the twin districts of Shopian and Pulwama.
