Baramulla police today claimed to have arrested four robbers within a period of five hours after they looted gold ornaments and electronic gadgets from two residential houses at Singhpora in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
The robbers, according to police, also attempted to molest a lady during the commission of the crime, which was resisted by the family members.
According to the police, during the intervening night of 10 and 11 December, four masked persons armed with knives and swords barged in to the house of Khazan Singh and Nazir Ahmad Kuchay at Singhpora Baramulla.
The armed men after taking the family members in both the residential houses hostage looted gold and electronic gadgets worth Rs 11 lakh.
"The armed men even tried to molest a lady during the commission of the crime, however, it was resisted by the family members," said Imtiyaz Hussain, SSP, Baramulla.
He said soon after receiving complaint from the victim families at police Post Delina, two teams of police were constituted to crack the case within a minimum possible time.
"During the course of investigation, a gang comprising four persons was found to be involved in the crime. After strenuous efforts police busted the gang and arrested all the four persons (names withheld)," police said.
Meanwhile, case under relevant law has been registered in police station Baramulla.
