4-yr-old girl goes missing from Ompora Housing Colony; leopard attack suspected

The big cats have been frequently spotted in the said area of late with Wildlife officials blaming the nearby forest nursery they say acts as a safe haven for the beasts.

Srinagar June 3: A 4-yr-old girl has gone missing from Ompora Housing Colony area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday evening, with locals suspecting that it might be a case of leopard attack.

Reports said that Mir Adda, daughter of Mir Mudasir, a resident of Housing colony, Ompora area of Budgam went missing this evening.

Quoting a police official, news agency KDC reported that they have launched searches to trace out the missing girl. Local sources said that the minor girl was taken by a leopard and some blood stains were found in the area adding that the leopard had been roaming in the area for many weeks.

Pertinently, the big cats have been frequently spotted in the said area with Wildlife officials blaming the nearby forest nursery they say acts as a safe haven for the beasts.
