84 persons arrested in north Kashmir for violating lockdown orders

Police on Friday arrested booked at least 50 people in this district after they were allegedly found violating the prohibitory orders and offering Friday prayers in mosques.

A senior police official said at least 50 people werearrested in Bandipora ,Sumbal, Inderkoot and Shahgund for offering Fridayprayers in masjids.

   

“The act in present circumstances was in violation todistrict magistrate’s order,” the official said.

Police have also seized six vehicles for their unauthorizedmoment in the area.

In this regarding, five FIRs under relevant sections havebeen registered in different police stations of Bandipora.

Meanwhile, in Kupwara district, police arrested 10 personsin Qalamabad for violating prohibitory orders while 19 persons were arrested inKralgund. Similarly, police arrested five persons in Handwara for violatingprohibitory orders.

A statement said cases under relevant sections of law havebeen registered in respective police stations and investigations initiated.

Police have again requested people to cooperate with themand stay indoors for their own as well as safety of others.
