9 arrested, vehicles seized for ‘illegal excavation, transportation of minerals’

Srinagar, Nov 5 : Police in Budgam have arrested nine drivers and seized their vehicles for alleged illegal excavation and transportation of minerals.

Giving details a police spokesman said cops during naka checking at Soibug Market seized nine tippers for illegal excavation and transportation of minerals in Budgam district.

Police also arrested nine drivers of the seized vehicles. They were identified as Muzamil Bilal of Nasrullahpora, Jahangir Ahmed Ganie of Kakanmaran, Asif Farooq of Patlibagh, Maqsood Ahmed Dar of Nasrullahpora, Samiullah Parray of Gariend Kalaaan, Anayat Hussain of Batpora, Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir of Galwanpora, Ajaz Ahmed of Bemina and Ajaz Ahmed Mir of Bemina.

A case was registered and investigations started.

“Police requests the people not to indulge in illegal mining activities as it is the violation of Government rules. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law,” the police spokesman said.
