A condolence meeting of Jammu Kashmir Awami Action (AAC) was held today in which the party leaders and office bearers expressed grief and sorrow over the death of senior AAC leader and All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Provisional President Jammu, Desh Raj Sharma.
AAC hailed the contribution of Sharma and said that "he was man of exemplary courage and faith in the right fullness of his conviction, who despite being attacked many times by goons for his political convictions did not give up."
"Even his home and family were attacked but he stood like a rock. During the current agitation Sharma raised the issue of atrocities against people in Kashmir many times and was very concerned about the human right violations perpetrated here," AAC spokesperson said.
General Secretary G N Zaki while paying tributes to Sharma said "the void created in the party with his loss would be difficult to fill."
Meanwhile, on the directions of AAC chief and APHC Chairman,Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a high level delegation comprising Tariq Ahmad Buch, Master Ghulam Rasool, Nisar Hussain Andrabi, Desh Raj Dogra, D R Arti, Farooq Ahmad, and Aijaz Ahmad participated in last rites (Antim Sanaskar) of D.R.Sharma in Jammu today and paid glowing tributes to him. They also conveyed the condolence of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to the bereaved family members.
