Dukhtaran-e-Millat general secretary Nahida Nasreen today termed the arrest of its chairperson Syeda Aasiya Andrabi as "frustration" of the state government.
"The so-called administration of Kashmir, including police have imposed PSAs on our youth and with that a new era of oppression and brutality has been recorded in the books of history," Nahida, in a statement today, said.
"DeM chairperson Syeda Aasiya Andrabi along with Sofi Fehmeeda was arrested yesterday and shifted to Rambagh police station. Since Syeda Aasiya Andrabi has always stood firm for the Kashmir cause, therefore the people of Kashmir are advised to be determined till the resolution of Kashmir issue," she said.
Condemning the ban on daily Kashmir Reader, Nahida said, "despite reporting objectively and realistically from the ground, the paper has been banned on flimsy grounds. This is sheer frustration of the government."
She condemned the forces action on women protestors who were demonstrating on the call of joint resistance leadership. "Thousands of women from Pulwama, Tral, Bijbehara and Ganderbal participated in the rallies across Kashmir and police used brute force to disperse the women protestors. In Ganderbal, where DeM chairperson was addressing a mammoth gathering telephonically, teargas shells were lobbed inside a Masjid where the rally was going on. Scores of DeM activists were injured in the police action," Nahida added.
