A day after their abduction by unidentified gunmen, a couple from Arwani area of Bijbehara in this south Kashmir district was released on Saturday, with bullet injuries in their legs.
A police official said the gunmen had abducted Nusrat andher husband Mudassir Ahmad Makroo on Thursday. Nusrat is the sister of Lashkarmilitant Nasir Ahmad Chadroo who is active for more than a year.
“The gunmen had called them outside their home in MakrooMohalla late in the evening and took them away in a car,” the police officialsaid.
“Both of them were dumped today afternoon near a graveyardin Arwani with bullet injuries in their legs. They were shifted to sub-districthospital in Bijbehara for treatment,” the official said.
The police have started probe into the incident.
