Act swiftly against corruption: Vakil urges Governor

Peoples Conference senior Vice-President, Abdul Gani Vakil, Wednesday urged the Governor Satya Pal Malik to fast track investigations on corruption cases against previous governments.

“The departments that deal with corruption have beenparalyzed by the previous governments. The Governor’s administration needs tostrengthen the Accountability Commission and Vigilance department to ensuretransparent governance,” Vakil said while addressing party workers’ meeting at TulsiBagh. Demanding stern punishment for officers involved in the health insurancescheme fraud, he said, “It has been a while since the fraud came into light andstill the names of the ones who are involved are not out in the public.”

   

Vakil claimed that the accountability commission has namedseveral ex-ministers in cases of corruption, but no action has been taken as ofnow.
