Additional CAPF companies arrive in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 28:  Additional Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) companies have arrived in Kashmir to assist in election duties ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections.

The deployment of these forces aims to ensure the smooth conduct of elections in Kashmir amidst security challenges.

   

The arrival of the CAPF companies comes as part of the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) efforts to maintain law and order during the electoral process.

The presence of these forces is expected to enhance security measures and provide a sense of safety to voters and election officials.

The CAPF companies will work in coordination with the local police and security forces to ensure the peaceful conduct of elections.

“Some companies arrived in south Kashmir districts on Sunday,” a senior Police officer said. “They mobilised from Jammu division where the election process was completed.”

The officer said that after the south Kashmir phase, these additional companies will be moved to central and north Kashmir for elections.

The additional forces will be deployed strategically in various parts of Kashmir to cover polling stations and sensitive areas.

Their presence is aimed at deterring any attempts to disrupt the electoral process and ensuring that voters can exercise their franchise without fear.

The ECI and security agencies have been working closely to assess the security situation in Kashmir and take necessary measures to conduct free, fair, and peaceful elections.

The deployment of additional CAPF companies is part of these efforts to ensure a smooth and secure electoral process in the region.

Meanwhile, the Police in Anantnag welcomed the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) companies that have arrived in the district for election duties.

Led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, G V Sundeep Chakravarthy along with CAPF Nodal officer and CO CRPF 40 Bn, R P Meena, SP Headquarters Anantnag, Sajad Ahmad, DySP DAR Rouf Ahmad, and other officers, the CAPF were welcomed for the support and confidence in ensuring a safe and smooth electoral process.

The CAPF companies were received at various locations in the district with the concerned SDPOs and SHOs also welcoming them in their respective jurisdictions.

This reception signifies the readiness of the district Police to work closely with the CAPF personnel to facilitate their duties and ensure a peaceful and orderly execution of the electoral process.

The Police in Anantnag pledged full cooperation and coordination with the CAPF forces, highlighting the commitment to maintaining security and enabling a fair electoral process in the district.
