Commuters sat in gridlock for hours on Friday afternoon after few inches of snow that accumulated on Srinagar city roads resulted in traffic snarls across the summer capital.

Despite a widespread snowfall forecast, the administration was caught off guard as no preparations were made to clear the the snow from vital nerves of the city.

Motorists were seen managing traffic themselves near Radio Kashmir junction.

Motorists and commuters said that it took them three hours to traverse two kilometers from Sonawar Ram Munshi bagh to TRC Crossing.
