Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar, Tuesday assured speedyinvestigation into the horrific Bandipora incident and said that the culpritwould be given an exemplary punishment as per the law.
The Advisor said that in the present case special Medicalteam would go into ascertaining the age of the accused.
He said with due regard to all facts, a decision would be taken regarding loweringthe age for punishment to 16 years after detailed discussions with fellowAdvisors, various interest groups, Secretaries, and Police.
The matter would then be taken up with the Governor and anappropriate recommendation would be made to the Centre for amendment in thelaw, wherever required, he added.
