The signature campaign started by AIP seeking abolishing of Section 298 A/B of RPC gained momentum with people from all walks of life joining the campaign at Baramulla and Srinagar today.
At both the places prominent citizens, students, traders and people from other walks of life joined the campaign and took a pledge to force their concerned MLAs to support the bill seeking revoking of ban on beef to be taken up in the upcoming assembly session.
Rasheed said after completion of campaign in ten districts of Valley, he will start the signature campaign from Jammu province immediately after Eid-ul-zuha.
Reacting to VHP's threats of economic blockade to Kashmir if the bill is passed, Rasheed challenged VHP and other organisations to show courage to turn their threats into reality as Kashmiris have already suffered much at the hands of state and non-state actors sponsored by New Delhi, but have never given up as they stand on high legal and moral ground over various issues.
He asked all MLAs to read writing on the wall and cutting across the political lines support the bill in the upcoming assembly session to satisfy conscience of their own, besides protecting freedom of religious rights of Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir.
