Amarnath yatra resumes from Baltal

The annual Amarnath yatra which was halted for three consecutive days from Baltal route due to inclement weather was resumed on Saturday.

The annual Amarnath yatra which was halted for three consecutive days from Baltal route due to inclement weather was resumed on Saturday. 

An official said the yatra remained halted for three consecutive days as a precautionary measure in the wake of inclement weather which had triggered landslides and shooting stones along Baltal route.  "It was resumed with the improvement in the weather on Saturday," he said. 

He said a batch of pilgrims which was stranded at the base camp for few days, was allowed to undertake journey on Saturday morning from the base camp Baltal towards cave shrine for darshan," an official at Baltal base camp told Greater Kashmir. 

He said on Friday two buses carrying 90 pilgrims (male 69,  female 21) had left for Pahalgam from Baltal camp to visit the cave shrine via Pahalgam route.

Meanwhile, a fresh batch of over 2203 yatris left Jammu for the cave shrine, officials said.
