Amid protests, slain militant laid to rest in Kakapora
Hundreds of people on Sunday participated in the funeral procession of a militant Rayees Ahmad Dar who was killed in an encounter on Saturday in Beegumbagh village in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
Reports said that as the body of the slain militant was brought to Kakapora, hundreds of people assembled there and held pro-freedom protests.
Despite deployment of forces in the main town and routes leading to Kakapora, people from various villages of Pulwama and Shopian reached here and held pro-freedom protests.
The body of the slain militant was later taken to the central graveyard where thousands of people participated in his last rites.
Soon after the burial, people again protested and pelted stones on the forces, deployed in the area.
"The forces fired teargas and pava shells to disperse them. Soon the clashes spread in adjoining areas of Kakapora" locals said.
Meanwhile, many areas including Pulwama, Kakapora, Samboora and Pahoo remained shut against the militant's killing.
