Srinagar, Nov 9: Threatening to massive protests and hunger strike if their demands are not met forthwith, Jammu and Kashmir Anganwari Workers and Helpers Association (AWHA) on Saturday staged a protest here.
Scores of Anganwari workers and helpers assembled at Press Enclave here this afternoon demanding gratuity, formulation of pension scheme, immediate enhancement of their remuneration and payment of minimum wages. Carrying banners, placards, they also demanded regularization of their services with immediate effect and increase in their honorarium.
They were also demanding release of training grants and providing of TA, DA for attending different events including pulse polio and Aids Awareness Programmes.
"Anganwadi workers and helpers should be covered by the EPF and ESI Act for regularization of their services as government employee. Besides Anganwari Centres must be made as nodal centers to impart pre-school education," said Mymoona Nazk, President of Association. She said that the Association would observe massive agitations and hunger strike in coming days, if their demands are not met forthwith.
