Angry crowd torches house, hutment of family in Charar-e-Sharif village

An angry crowd on Friday torched a residential house, cowshed and a hutment (kotha) in Doodkathoo village of Chrar-i-Sharief area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Reports said that the family and relatives of Sameer Ahmad (24) who was found dead this week torched the house and a hutment of Ghulam Qadir Dar today at around 3:30 pm, believing that his sons were involved in his “murder.”

   

Sameer Ahmad, a resident of Watkulu village of the district was missing since June 24. His body was fished out of Yousmarg dam on July 10.

Reports said that the police had to fire tear gas to control the situation.

The district administration has already started a probe into the death of Sameer Ahmad.

“Police has taken cognizance of the incident and FIR has been registered in the instant matter. The investigation in this case is under way” said a police spokesman, in Srinagar.
