Another Kashmiri beaten up, this time in Manali

Himachal Pradesh police on Saturday registered a case about beating up of a Kashmiri businessman in Manali, a day after a family was attacked in by residents in Delhi.  Reports said Hakim Saamir was at his business ‘Hornet Hospex LLP’ situated on Mall Road when a group of people chanting slogans stormed it shouting anti-Kashmiri slogans.

“It is clarified that after ascertaining the facts from concerned authorities it was learnt that the matter pertained to the scuffle and the concerned Police Station in Manali has taken cognizance of this incident and registered a case FIR No: 105/2018 under section 451, 323, 504, 506 IPC in this regard,” a police statement said.

   

“Police Officials from Manali have assured of proper action in this matter.”

The latest incident came a day after a Kashmiri family, including young women, was harangued and beaten up with sticks in Delhi’s Siddharth Extension residential colony.

Delhi Police are investigating the “neighbourhood dispute” and registered a case booking the accused under sections of Indian Penal Code pertaining to molestation, insulting a woman’s modesty, wrongful restraint, voluntarily causing hurt, and criminal intimidation. 

Reports of incidents of attacks on and abuse of Kashmiri people living in different parts of India have become more frequent in recent years.
