A new photo of former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah surfaced on social media on Thursday.
The photo clicked in a room shows Omar sporting a long beardand he is seen standing with a doctor apparently. The National Conferenceleader, who has been in detention at HariNiwas since August 5 last year whenArticle 370 was abrogated, has not shaved since. This is the third photo ofOmar that has surfaced since his detention.
In January, Omar’s photograph wearing a woollen cap andsporting a long white beard surfaced on social media and went viral. Omar wasseen smiling with snow in the backdrop.
In October 2019, a different photo of Omar had surfaced, inwhich he was sporting a shorter beard.
Sources close to Omar say he has refused to shave his beardin detention as a mark of protest.
Three former J&K Chief Ministers have been in detentionin the Valley since August 5. Omar’s father Farooq Abdullah has been kept athis Gupkar Road residence in Srinagar. The PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti too hasbeen detained in a government building on MA Road here.
