Security forces on Friday evening launched a cordon and search operation in Beighpora, Hizbul Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naikoo’s village in Awantipora.
Residents and police sources said security forces startedsearches in the village following information received about presence ofmilitants there.
They said that the security forces conducted house-to-housesearches and large numbers of personnel from Jammu & Kashmir police, Army’sRashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were involved inthe operation.
The searches were going late into the evening, a policeofficer told Greater Kashmir.
