Jammu Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) on Thursday urged the management of social media platform ‘Twitter’ to take down fake handles attributed to the party that have been created for “peddling misinformation and indulging in deceptive activity to mislead people.”
A party spokesman said Jammu Kashmir Apni Party was still inthe process of registration with Election Commi ssion (EC). “We have notcreated any official handles of the JKAP on Twitter so far. So the Twittermanagement should take cognizance of the fact and take down/suspend these fakeaccounts that have been created by certain vested interest groups orindividuals to disseminate politically motivated and unauthorized informationin the public domain,” said the spokesman
The spokesman said unfortunately several Twitter handles inthe name of JKAP were being operated by people who were not associated with theparty. “TheTwitter should take notice of such fake handles who are indulging in spam orother types of platform manipulations. Since the Twitter has a wider reach, itshould not allow fake handles to engage in bulk, aggressive, or deceptiveactivity that misleads people or disrupts the authentic activities on socialmedia platform,” the spokesman said.
